Celebrating Creativity & Community: January 17th Art & Culture Day at Mack Road Community Center

On January 17, 2026, the Mack Road Community Center came alive with color, innovation, and joy as families and youth gathered for an afternoon dedicated to art, culture, and hands-on learning. From 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, the center buzzed with activity—every corner filled with laughter, creativity, and the unmistakable energy of young minds exploring new possibilities.

🎨 A Space for Art, Imagination, and Youth Expression

The heart of the event was all about giving our youth the freedom to create, explore, and have fun:

♟️ Chess for Mind Power

Youth and mentors gathered around chessboards, exercising strategy, patience, and focus. For many children, it was their first introduction to chess—and they loved it. The atmosphere was friendly, supportive, and full of those quiet “aha!” moments that only chess can bring.

🎨 Painting with Purpose

From paint palettes to bold canvases, kids expressed their stories through vibrant colors. Some painted abstract art, others scenes from their imagination, and some worked together on group posters. It was inspiring to see creativity unfold so naturally.

🤖 Robo-STEM Building & Painting

One of the biggest highlights of the day was the hands-on Robo-STEM station.

Taught by our website designer, Alexander Guardado

Youth had the opportunity to build simple robotic structures and explore STEM concepts in a playful and accessible way. Some of the robotic kits even allowed participants to paint using robotic motion—blending engineering and art into one joyful experience.

This unique fusion of science and creativity sparked excitement and curiosity, showing kids that STEM can be expressive, fun, and deeply empowering.

🌟 Why Events Like This Matter

Art and culture events help youth build confidence, sharpen their minds, and connect with one another in meaningful ways. They foster creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills that extend far beyond the art table or chessboard.

Most importantly, these events strengthen our community’s sense of togetherness. Parents, volunteers, youth, and neighbors all shared in the day’s activities, laughter, and learning.
