As we step into the second quarter of 2025, we’re excited to share the impactful events that have shaped the beginning of this year for Women of Color On The Move. With March marking Women’s History Month, we hosted two major summits, one in Samburu, Kenya & another in Sacramento, that brought together incredible women to address some of the most pressing issues affecting our communities.

Women’s History Month Summit: Nairobi, Kenya (March 8th-9th)
We started our journey in Kenya, where we hosted our inaugural Women’s History Month summit. This event was designed to celebrate and uplift the women of Samburu, emphasizing the importance of leadership, empowerment & health. Over the course of two days, attendees participated in powerful discussions and workshops that provided actionable solutions to improve the lives of women in the region.
The summit was a reminder of the strength and resilience of women in Kenya and beyond. We left Samburu with a renewed commitment to continue supporting women in their personal and professional lives, as well as in their communities.

Love is Respect: Women and Girls Mental Wellness Summit, Sacramento (March 29th-30th)
Soon after, we brought the conversation closer to home in Sacramento, California, with the Love is Respect: Women and Girls Mental Wellness Summit. This summit focused on mental wellness and self-care, topics that are integral to the overall health and success of women and girls. Over the course of two days, experts, advocates and community members gathered to discuss strategies for supporting mental health, coping with stress, and fostering resilience.
The event was not just about learning, it was about healing. It provided a safe space for women and girls to openly discuss their challenges and triumphs while empowering each other to prioritize their well-being.
