Heart & Healing Community Service & Wellness Fair

On Saturday, October 25, 2025, Women of Color On The Move (WOCOTM) proudly hosted the Heart and Healing Community Service & Wellness Fair at the beautiful San Antonio Park in Oakland, California. In collaboration with the 8994 Foundation and The Growth Center 916, this event brought together families, service providers, and local leaders for a day centered on connection, community, and care.

What made this gathering truly special was its purpose—bringing hope, joy, and healing to the San Antonio Park neighborhood, while ensuring that community members had full access to resources that support their physical, emotional, and social well-being.

A Day of Care, Joy, and Community

From the moment families arrived, the park was filled with laughter, music, and movement. The energy reflected the spirit of unity—neighbors coming together to uplift one another and celebrate community strength.

Kid Zone Entertainment

Children enjoyed a vibrant Kid Zone filled with fun activities, games, art stations, and supervised play spaces. The area gave young attendees a space to be creative, active, and joyful.

Free Lunch & Snacks

Nourishing the community was a priority. Volunteers provided free lunch and snacks throughout the event, ensuring families could relax, enjoy, and stay fueled for the full day of activities.

Giveaways That Made a Difference

Participants received a variety of meaningful items including:

  • Mental health wellness kits
  • Hygiene bags
  • Gift cards
    These kits were designed to provide ongoing support and practical tools for emotional and personal care.

 

Clothing Closet Access

The clothing closet offered free, gently used clothing for all ages. Families were able to pick out items they needed—warm coats, children’s clothes, casual wear, professional attire, and more.

Vital Resources & Services

Local organizations and wellness providers were on-site offering:

  • Mental health services
  • Housing and employment resources
  • Health and wellness information
  • Youth and family support services
    Community members had the opportunity to connect directly with experts and get the support they need in a welcoming environment.
